I'm Sunil Garud. I like to do stuff on paper. Be it drawing,
doodling, painting or even scribbling. Anything that helps my
imagination find a voice of its own. The world's found a 'job
title' for odd sorts like me: illustrator, Graphic designer etc.
But i'd really prefer if you thought of me as a dreamer.
I was born and brought up in Mumbai, India, stones throw away
from the reputed J.J Institute of Applied Art. A typical Bombay
boy, I loved cricket, football and the occasional prank once
every other day.
After Highschool, when I was ready for some real education, I
just walked straight into J.J. 4 years and about a million
multi-coloured strokes later, I acquired a First Class First
Honours degree in Illustration.
If I wasn't doing what I love doing, I would've pursued my other
passion: cycling.
It's always been my dream to take off on my cycle and travel
around the world. Just like that.
I work alone in my studio-cum-home, but I have A.R. Rehman, folk
songs, Sufi music and Greenday for company. I take inspiration
from my own work. Though, I love to watch Roberto Benigni or
Majid Majidi making the most out of reel. I enjoy cooking in my
free time. If you're ever in the mood for some authentic
'Cucumber Idlis' or some good old Dosas, do drop in. |
